Ferrara, the Renaissance city
Ferrara is known as the city of the Italian Renaissance par excellence.
An excursion to Ferrara from the Lidos of Comacchio is an interesting idea and easy to realize: the short distance and the richness of the beauties to discover are certainly worth paying a visit for a day to dedicate to culture and history.
From 1995 Ferrara and its historic centre were awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: within the walls of this town, past and present live harmoniously together, with many ancient monuments of rare beauty, that even today show all their magnificence. These include for example the Cathedral of Saint George, in Romanesque and Gothic style, or the Estense Castle, the majestic symbol of Ferrara, symbol of the House of Este ruling over this territory.
Very famous also the Palazzo dei Diamanti and Palazzo Schifanoia, that today house of art exhibitions and temporary collections.
We suggest to visit also the Delizie, the ancient princely mansions of the Estense period, true centres of leisure and culture in ancient times..
